AT&T execs get a better Captivate unboxing experience than you do
Posted on 16. Jul, 2010 by IBM.
We don’t know how often this happens, but it seems that AT&T brass are being provided with these ridiculously over-the-top packages for the Samsung Captivate that’s officially launching this weekend, including bundled accessories that us unwashed …

Dell Streak’s supposed US packaging is gorgeous, unboxed with elegance
Posted on 29. Jun, 2010 by IBM.
Well, the Brits ain’t gonna be happy when they see this in the AM. What we’re looking at here is presumably the Dell Streak’s final US packaging — a far cry from the cardboard boxes that the Englishmen are given (and let’s not forget the silly photos…

Virgin Mobile’s pre-paid MIFI spotted, purchased, unboxed, and photographed
Posted on 25. Jun, 2010 by IBM.
Sure, Virgin Mobile’s MIFI isn’t due out until Monday — but that hasn’t stopped one lucky shopper from finding one on the shelves of his local Best Buy yesterday. The enigmatic reader (only identified by the initials “NS”) even went so far as to incl…

Motorola Droid X first (official) hands-on and unboxing! Update: video!
Posted on 23. Jun, 2010 by IBM.
Yeah, we kind of already saw this phone, but if you don’t tell Motorola and Verizon, we won’t. We just got our hands on an official, final Droid X at the NY launch event, and it tastes just as sweet. Here are a few notes:
It’s built of basically …

HTC Aria slipping out early into AT&T stores
Posted on 18. Jun, 2010 by IBM.
Good news, Android fans! HTC’s Aria — arguably the first Google-fied phone on AT&T worth caring about — is seemingly slipping onto carrier floors a few days early. As the story goes, the Sense-equipped, Android 2.1-powered handset was supposed t…

Droid Incredible torn down to its constituent elements, reassembled in a flash (video)
Posted on 05. May, 2010 by IBM.
Now here’s an innovative concept — instead of doing separate videos for an unboxing and a disassembly of the Droid Incredible, why not combine them into one? And while you’re at it, turn that into a stop-motion animation and include well timed sound effects for comedic relief. Make sure to include intimate closeups of the Incredible’s spectacularly red innards, then finish off with a sped-up reconstruction and reboot of the handsome Nexus One killer. Got all that? Good, now drop the video after the break and let the people enjoy it.

AT&T Palm Pre Plus unboxed in glorious, orange detail
Posted on 23. Apr, 2010 by IBM.
We still don’t have a firm date for when Palm’s current wunderphone will be hitting AT&T’s soothingly-colored retail establishments (the site still says “coming soon”), but we do now have confirmation that at least one handset has reached its destination. A tipster was kind enough to send us these photos of an AT&T Pre Plus escaping its creamsicle confines and powering on for the first time. This doesn’t look like a retail unit, likely one of AT&T’s “practice” Pre Plus models that were supposed to ship earlier this month or some other promo phone, but regardless we’re guessing that we’re not far from yet another group of subscribers being able to massage the keys on this slider.

Droid Incredible arrives early for a few lucky, smug pre-orderers
Posted on 21. Apr, 2010 by IBM.

While the new Verizon Droid Incredible isn’t supposed to arrive until April 29th, a few blessed pre-orderers are getting their units early. From the sound of it, there was a glitch in Verizon’s system that was allowing some phone orders to be shipped right away — sadly, that apparently has since been plugged. Interestingly, the boxes these are being shipped in so far just say “HTC Incredible,” not that it’s any surprise that the Droid Incredible moniker was a late-in-game addition. Of course, cries of “fake!” rang out in the forums, so one of the recipients (appropriately self-dubbed “SoSmarmy”) posted a video of the phone booting up for all to see. Check it out after the break. Not seething with envy yet? Perhaps you should re-read our review of the new flagship Android handset.
[Thanks, Aaron]

T-Mobile’s HTC HD2 gets purchased and unboxed early (video)
Posted on 21. Mar, 2010 by IBM.

T-Mobile’s not officially selling its world-beating HD2 until Wednesday, but if you’ve a Walmart nearby and hankering to get HTC’s latest and greatest a few days early, it might be worth a trip out. JDMiPhoner managed to score one from his local Wally World a full four days early, and he’s been kind enough to unbox it, boot it up and give us a few first impressions on video. Is it really worth a couple of Benjamins with Windows Phone 7 Series just a few months away? Head on past the break if you’d care to be reminded of just how painful it is to know that this WinMo 6.5-packin’ gem won’t ever be upgradable (natively, anyway) to WP7S.
[Thanks, Andrew]
Update: Windows Mobile Nation got one as well (also from Walmart), and has hosted up a nice gallery of shots here.

Sony Ericsson X10 unboxed by — who else — Sony Ericsson
Posted on 10. Mar, 2010 by IBM.
Guys, guys, look: unboxing is our job. We know it’s fun and we know it brings eyeballs to your site, but we think your customers would be better served if you just concentrated on shipping the mighty X10 rather than teasing them with a product they can’t yet have. Apparently, Sony Ericsson just took delivery of its first commercial samples of its inaugural Android device, so to kick off the occasion in style, a couple staffers have unboxed them in glorious high definition for us — both the white and black versions, mind you — using none other than their own Vivaz to maximize the meta factor. There’s not a lot to the video, really (even the captions are disappointingly accurate), but if you’re truly desperate for X10 eye candy as you wait for the retail launch, it’s worth a gander. Full video after the break.
